The Town Hall of Gennep was built around 1617 in the Lower Rhine Renaissance style of Willem Van Bommel, which is also recognizable in the town halls of Venlo and 's Heerenberg. Over the years, the Town Hall has functioned as a school, prison and courthouse.

The council chamber is still in use for council meetings, weddings and other official receptions. The handover of keys during carnival also takes place here.

The wheelchair-accessible Gennep Tourist Information Point is currently located on the ground floor.
