"Nature lovers should explore the Katrevel, an area with several small lakes that is a refuge for many species of birds. The wooden jetty and benches invite you to relax and watch birds or have a picnic."The nonsense has found its victim.Katrepel is the shape of the old coastline that the dike still follows. What you are describing are excavation pits from dike construction work on the Katrepel or Katzenbuckel, which have almost doubled in size since 1981.The water remains under the layer of earth because of the clay sole, the mudflats, so to speak. In this context, a visit to Tjüls Wial, the Tjül wehle, is also recommended, which, like all wehles, comes from dike repairs. It is located west of Archsum and at the end of Keitumer Koogstraße, where the conservation station is located in the old pumping station.
