Muur van Emmen

The Wall of Emmen was officially opened on Friday 28 May by provincial executive Henk Brink and alderman René van der Weide. Both men cycled up the mountain under the supervision of Ben Timmermans and Bert Fuhler, initiators of the project, after which they officially opened the Wall of Emmen. The former landfill on the Schansstraat in Emmen has become a beautiful place for cyclists, runners, hikers and nature lovers. We are proud of the result and hope that many people will enjoy it.” From now on, enthusiasts can go to the old landfill of Emmen, where a 1200-metre long cycle path (one-way) has been constructed with a gradient of 16%. The wall also offers opportunities for hikers with a beautiful view at the top! Later, a toboggan run and a coffee corner at the top are to be added.
