The oldest church in Eastern Styria was probably built in the middle of the 11th century and mentioned in a document in 1187. There is nothing left of the Romanesque building, the basement of the south tower has been preserved from the Gothic building. From 1728 to 1737 the church was rebuilt with the architect Fidelis Heinzl and the builder Lorenz Statthaler.
