uzla KamilAbduş Lagoon is one of Istanbul's very few lagoons; Due to the closing of the mouth of the lagoon upon the construction of Tuzla Shipyard in 1978 and the changing of the bed of the Umur Stream, which provides fresh water, it lost its ecological value quickly. It was completely dry in 2003.
