The Chenal de Mérignac makes the connection between the Canal de la Seudre à la Charente canal and the sea at the small oyster and mussel-growing port, adjoining two communes Bourcefranc-Le Chapus and Brouage, fitted out to receive pleasure craft. 2 km long, the site currently has 22 pontoons fitted out by the municipality for fishing boats with direct access to the public highway.
