The formerly small place was in a small valley between Kammern and Exing. The place is "settled". The last six inhabitants were counted in 1961.
An important salt road probably once passed here. Today only the church and not far from it an old wooden farmhouse, the Söldenhaus. The late Gothic church was built in the second half of the 15th century. It was a pilgrimage church dedicated to St. Vitus.
A three-sided courtyard stood east of the church until 1875/1876. A larger cemetery as well as archaeological traces point to a place that was already respectable. Nothing is known about the origin of the pilgrimage to St. Veit in Thomasbach and its end. Regular services have not been celebrated there since 1913.
