November 21, 2021 the old arch bridge over the Lek (A2) was towed on pontoons to the Beatrix lock. The 'Iron Lady' is being dismantled there and that will be an attraction for a while.

After opening in 1936, the bridge was an important part of the A2, but later the narrow lanes turned out to cause a lot of traffic jams. The new Jan Blankenbrug was built next to it and no one has been driving over the old Lekbrug since 2004. Further maintenance is too expensive and a memento of an arch bridge is already at Culemborg, so this arch bridge will be demolished.
