The place chosen for its construction in 1568 is a strategic point for presiding over a crossroads: the intersection between the Cañada Real cordel that comes from Alcuneza - Medinaceli road - and the road that ran towards the Court and that also led to Soria and Start.

In 1568 its construction began as a closed hermitage with a Renaissance portal and Gothic vaults. This architectural anachronism is normal, since it is understood as a desire to preserve artistic traditions.
