The Leinreiter monument on the River Main is reminiscent of the time when the ships were pulled upriver with horses.

The 3.15 meter high bronze sculpture by the Darmstadt artist Detlef Kraft refers to a pre-industrial Rüsselsheim am Main and an activity that lasted until the 19th century. Line riders pulled ships up the Main with the help of powerful horses to transport goods. Pulling ships with the help of horses required great skill. When the paths were sodden or flooded, the horses kept slipping and threatened to drown. If the ship drove into the middle of the current due to a steering error, the line riders had to cut the rope. They sat on one side of the horse so that they could jump off quickly in case of danger.
