Quartz porphyry has been extracted at Klengelsberg for 23 years. As the mining progressed, a fine crystalline rock was exposed in the south of the pit, which turned out to be andesite. This material is particularly suitable for the construction of traffic routes that are exposed to high stress, for example for motorways and taxiways.
