La Peguera del Madroño is located in the Sierra de Segura, a few kilometers from the Segura River and very close to the Las Anchuricas reservoir, on its left bank.
It does not have a Town Hall since it is a village belonging to the municipality of Santiago de la Espada (today Santiago-Pontones).
Its monuments are nature in its wild state, the emerald green of the calm waters of the Anchuricas reservoir and the mountains covered with pines and holm oaks.
Their typical mountain food is galianos, rags, ajoatao, ajopringue, migas and gachamigas.
The origin of its name is due to the fact that tar and pitch were extracted from the pine torches to mark the cattle.
Many of their houses have been bought and restored by people from other places who spend their vacations there.
Among the activities that can be carried out are trout fishing (in the Segura river and in the Anchuricas reservoir), hiking, cycling, mushroom picking and above all, enjoying the landscape and photography.
