The castle ramparts of Lossow are one of the most important ground monuments in Brandenburg. The fortified settlement was founded at the end of the Middle Bronze Age in the 13th century BC. Built in BC. After the Bronze Age phase of use, a cult center established itself in the same place in the early Iron Age (8th-6th centuries BC).
The castle complex was settled again in Slavic times (9th-10th centuries).
The up to 8 m deep sacrificial shafts, which were dug in the early Iron Age, contained human and animal bones. Cut marks and cut marks on the bones suggest that sacrifices took place here. Most of the people who are sacrificed are children and adolescents.
So far, 63 such shafts have been located on the site of the castle ramparts. According to projections, at least 200 victim shafts can be assumed.
The cult facilities of Lossow are almost unique for this time. Another sacrificial shaft is known only from the Lebus castle wall, 15 km away.

The castle wall and cult place of Lossow was built in the middle of the 19th century
the construction of the railway line Berlin - Breslau through finds from the bronze and
Iron Age as well as known from Slavic times.
Research by the historical association began as early as 1898
Frankfurt (Oder). This was followed by further investigations:
1909- Investigation of the wall construction by the Frankfurt high school director R. Agadh
1919 - Discovery of sacrificial shafts when the track system was widened
1926-29- excavations on behalf of the Berlin Ethnographic Museum by W. Unverzagt
1968 - Emergency excavation of the Museum of Prehistory and Early History in Potsdam
    by H. Geisler
1980-84- excavations of the Humboldt University in Berlin by S. Griesa
