The Simonos Petras Monastery is located about 230 m above sea level. The climb from the ferry dock to what is, in my opinion, the most architecturally impressive monastery on Mount Athos is well worth it. Fitness and surefootedness are required. The view from the monastery and along the way is breathtaking.
