The Buch village bell was cast in 1909 in the Lotter foundry in Bamberg. Her place was in the bell tower of the parish hall, where she was struck by hand on various occasions. So it not only rang for prayer or when someone had died - no, the bell was even used to alert the Buch fire brigade. When the old parish hall was demolished in the early 1970s, the bell lost its home and could no longer sound.

When at the beginning of 2000 the board of the FF Buch Claus Gördel, as well as the incumbent councilor Rudolf Keck, inspected the bell kept by the Gumbmann family, the idea of building a bell tower in Buch was born. In the beginning it was only a small group of people who pursued the project and pushed it forward with determination. At various meetings of the electoral group and the fire brigade, possibilities were sought to create a new home for the bell. After the decision to implement the bell tower project, a number of questions had to be asked beforehand, such as: B. the location, the permit or the developer are clarified. It was quickly agreed that, for historical reasons, the only possible location was the place next to the current war memorial, so that the bell can return to its old place of work. The question of the developer and construction work turned out to be more difficult. After some back and forth, the decision was made to use a steel structure, as this type of construction requires significantly less maintenance and renovation work.
