After the previous building was destroyed in the Thirty Years War, the church was rebuilt with a tower in 1648. However, the tower had become very dilapidated in the years when the inner wall of the tower collapsed in May of 1871, and it was torn down. Today there is a wooden roofed belfry at the entrance to the church. There are still two bells here, one of which dates from the 14th century.

Radis has made history. Not only was Neptune's discoverer Johann Gottfried Galle born here, but the church is also something special. It is documented that Luther and Melanchthon inspected the church and school in 1528. The church burned down during the Thirty Years' War and was rebuilt in 1641. In 1871, the partially collapsed church tower was demolished. The bells were hung in a separate belfry.
