2013The construction of the new oil port bridge swings elegantly and dynamically over the 70 meter wide Raunheim oil port entrance. The traditional foot and cycle path along the southern bank of the Main had been interrupted here since 1965. The riverside path was closed again from 2009–2013. The sculptural bridge does not run straight and does not span the shortest path, but runs in a slight curve over the harbor entrance. The ascent and descent on the side of the tank farm was designed as a spiral. The course, cross-section and the x-shaped supports are designed asymmetrically. Because of storage
highly flammable substances in the tank terminal of the oil port, high protection requirements also determined the design and planning process. Structurally, the bridge consists of a hollow body made of steel, the spiral made of concrete.
