St. Severin's Church in Passau's Innstadt district is considered the oldest church in the city whose masonry remains intact. Picturesquely situated near the Inn River and surrounded by a historic cemetery, it preserves a piece of Passau's early medieval history.

Its origins reach far back: The church dates back to a pre-Romanesque predecessor, possibly even to a foundation established by Saint Severin, who was active in the region in the 5th century. Archaeological excavations in 1976 uncovered the foundations of an even older church – evidence of the long religious tradition of this site.
