Hagen is already mentioned in the oldest Kiel city book from 1264 as indago comitis (game reserve of the count). In 1543 Christoph Pogwisch owned the Hagen and Dobersdorf estates.

Through the marriage of Lucia Pogwisch to Hinrich Blome on September 1st, 1646, the Hagen estate was brought into the Blome family. During Blome's time, the two large mansions on Hagen and Dobersdorf were built, Hagen by Hinrich Blome and Dobersdorf in 1770/72 by the great-grandson Christoph Blome. Both houses are among the most beautiful and important buildings on our estate. Hagen stands at the beginning of the Baroque period and Dobersdorf at its end.

The construction of the manor house was probably started after the marriage in 1647, it was finished in 1649, as the large letters serving as wall anchors prove.
Hinrich Blome was district administrator and magistrate of Rendsburg. He also bought the Farve and Waterneversdorf estates from Hagen. He died in 1676 at the age of 60 on the Hagen estate after being appointed Royal Danish Privy Councilor. He left Lucia and 9 children. The house remained in the Blomes heritage until 1814. After that, the estate became a family foundation until it was bought by the Landgesellschaft in 1930 and settled there. The municipality of Probsteierhagen acquired the manor house. The gatehouse, tenant house and various small buildings were converted into farmsteads, while the large half-timbered barn of 1626 and the large early 18th-century cowhouse were demolished. The central tower on the passage burned down in 1921 after a lightning strike. After the mansion was acquired by the community of Probsteierhagen, the building was used as an elementary school. Since the village community school was built in 1969, the manor house has made a name for itself as the "cultural center of the provost".
