It is worthwhile to drive there for a long time - it is unimaginable that a ski jumping hill stood at this point.

              From the ski jump archive:
In Rhodaer Grund in the Steigerwald, a forest area in the southern part of Erfurt, a ski jump was constructed in 1938 by the Erfurt architect Dipl. Ing. Körner and built with the support of the city.
The planned inauguration of the ski jump could not take place in January 1939 because of the lack of snow in the winter, so that the ski jump could only be inaugurated on January 8, 1940 by the city office for people and youth training. Of course, the relevant public figures of the city were present at the inauguration and experienced with the spectators how the German champion at the time, Hans Marr from Oberhof, achieved the longest distance of 29 meters.
Ski jumps are said to have existed until 1942 and after the war the wooden parts of the ski jump fell victim to the miserable fuel situation in the country and reconstruction was not possible due to the lack of a connection to a club. In 2005 a commemorative plaque was erected at the former ski jump.

Interesting what they used to be able to do with something useful. I think a donation is needed for the broken information board. 😉
