The Benedictine monastery in Möllenbeck, confirmed by Emperor Arnulf in 896, is one of the oldest abbeys in the Weser Valley. However, only the Ottonian round towers and the crypt have survived from this period.Between 1478 and 1505 the other buildings, church, cloister and cloister building were rebuilt. The use of the complex has also varied over the centuries, ranging from the monastery to the secular canon monastery with a Latin school and to the state domain.Today, Möllenbeck Monastery is one of the best-preserved late medieval monastery complexes in Germany. Its harmonious architecture and the roof made of Solling panels are widely praised.Once a year, a very special music event takes place within the venerable walls: the Irish Folk Festival in the Möllenbeck Monastery.

The former monastery Möllenbeck in Möllenbeck in the Weser meadows near Rinteln in Lower Saxony is one of the most important architectural monuments in the Weserbergland of Lower Saxony. It was built between 1478 and 1505 on the site of a previously burned-down predecessor building in late Gothic style and is considered one of the best preserved late medieval monastery complexes in Germany.
