The Gothensee is a lake on the island of Usedom in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. It is located in the southwestern part of the municipality of Heringsdorf. It has a length of around 5.3 kilometers, a width of around 1.3 kilometers and an average depth of 1.25 meters. The Gothensee is one of the larger lakes in Western Pomerania. It is located in a mixed deciduous forest in the Usedom Island Nature Park and is almost completely surrounded by a reed belt. Due to the shallow depth of the lake and the fact that clear water was introduced earlier, the lake water is very cloudy and there are hardly any plants. The shore of the lake offers many birds an ideal breeding and resting area.

On the north side of the lake, the bike path runs along near its shore. From the saddle you can always enjoy beautiful views of the lake. A few meters from here, a path leads to the shore, where you will also find a rest area.
