Around 1330 Heinrich von Trebsen had a new church built in Pausitz. In a later renovation, which probably took place around 1518, the choir and tower were added to the two narrow sides of the nave, which had already been enlarged before that time. Originally the tower had a slim point, which had to be removed in 1713 due to dilapidation. Since then it has had a gable roof. As far as can be seen from old documents, the Pausitzers also had to struggle with many small and, above all, large repairs to their church. Wars and a chronic lack of money for this work have brought problems with them again and again for centuries. Long before the end of the GDR era, the Pausitz church was no longer usable because of its ruinous state of construction. Church services could no longer take place in it. They were therefore moved to the community room. In 1994, starting with the external renovation, a comprehensive renovation began, which was completed at the end of 1996. In the nave, however, there have been huge changes compared to a photo from around 1890. The organ and galleries, built in 1823 above the altar and originating from the Falkenhain church, were expanded in 1906 and the organ was replaced by a new one this time. They were set up on the west side of the church (opposite the altar square). Due to a partition wall built in 1996, the organ, which has not been used for almost four decades, has become invisible to church visitors. It is waiting for a general overhaul, which financially is almost equivalent to a new building. If no miracle happens, their repair is in the stars. The church has 92 seats, but the number of services and their visitors is low.
