Here in the former basalt works, basalt gravel was extracted until the end of the 20th century. The basalt reserves ran out, so that the mining was stopped.
Today a valuable geotope with small ponds has emerged here on the edge of the Black Mountains nature reserve. Please behave calmly and carefully here, because many rare and highly specialized species have their home here.

This small pond is located in the former quarry on the Feuerberg, to reach it you first have to cross two heaped stone mounds which obstruct the way for vehicles into the basalt works, but when you are inside it is even more beautiful
