In Greek mythology, the god APOLLO (also: Apollon) was connected, among other things, to the famous oracle of Delphi. According to tradition, Phytia's last oracle (this was the title of the seer/fortune teller) in the second half of the fourth century - i.e. when Christianity was spreading more and more - is said to have been:
“Tell the king that the beautifully built house has fallen.
Phoibos Apollon no longer has any refuge,
the holy laurel withers,
its sources are forever silent,
the murmur of the water has fallen silent.”
