Around Swifterbant there are a number of forest areas on heavy sand. These are partly managed by the municipality of Dronten and Staatsbosbeheer. The largest part is the Swifterbos (122 ha), a multifunctional forest in which there are a few meadows with orchids. The municipal forests (35 hectares) mainly serve as a recreational area for the village. This village forest is located on the western edge of Swifterbant.
