In the steeply sloping Löffeltal west of the center of Hinterzarten you can see the Klingenhofsäge, a knocking saw from the 18th century. The impresses with the simplest gear technology, almost exclusively made of wood. It is driven by an overshot water wheel. A massive saw blade works on the clamped logs, while a mechanism in the basement of the plant produces the knocking noises during sawing, which led to the name knocking saw. Since the terrain in the Löffeltal does not allow a walled water channel or a water channel dug into the slope, the water here at the Klingenhof saw is guided to the mill wheel in a wooden channel on supports. The Klingenhofsäge regularly takes part in the German Milling Day. The contact person for everything to do with the mill is the Black Forest Association or the Association Heimatpfad Hochschwarzwald e.V.,
