Markus-Röhling-Stolln Show Mine

The Markus Röhling tunnel is one of the deepest tunnels in the Annaberg mining area. Its mouth hole is at 480.9 m above sea level. From 1946, the Wismut company was looking for uranium and rediscovered historical mining. Parts of the tunnel system have been accessible as a visitor mine since 1992. A mine train leads to various exhibition objects over a distance of 600 meters. In the historical part, a water wheel with a diameter of nine meters was recreated, the original was used to pump out groundwater from the lower levels, for which water from a stream was diverted.
