The copper vein that was mined here was discovered in 1813. At that time the mining was done by hand alone, the copper ore was tackled with hammer, chisel and black powder. A steam engine was once housed in the building, which from 1830 helped with the extraction. The mine was closed in 1882.

Your gaze sweeps over the shimmering blue of the sea as you make your way through the rugged, rocky hills – a landscape shaped by wind and waves. The copper vein, discovered in 1813, not only brought economic prosperity but also left behind architectural monuments that you can explore today. Particularly fascinating is the old engine house, which from 1830 onwards housed a steam engine to lift the heavy loads from the depths. As you approach the ruins, you can almost feel the spirit of the miners who once mined copper here under the most difficult conditions – using only hammer, chisel, and gunpowder. It's amazing how well the remains of the mine blend into the wild nature. The moss-covered walls tell a story of hard work and hardship. But nature has reclaimed its place, and as you enjoy the view of the vast sea, it's easy to step back in time. The hike to the copper mine is not only historically interesting, but also offers breathtaking panoramas. But be careful: The terrain is rocky and uneven in places, so sturdy footwear is a must. Take your time to take in the surroundings – you might even spot a few old copper lumps that were once dug up from the depths.
