Ausserberg is located at around 1000 meters on the slope between the Baltschieder and Bietsch valleys. Its borders start down in the valley at the Rhone and extend to the top of the Wiwannihorn. At the foot of the community are the Ausserberg vineyards, at the upper limit there is eternal snow. In between you will find lush meadows, fields, forest and pasture and above them the two Alps Raaft and Leiggern.

Hiking

Ausserberg is a very good starting point for a bisse circular hike into the Baltschiedertal. Follow the Niwärch bisse into the side valley to the socket at "Ze Steinu" at 1295m, then out of the valley on the other side of the Baltschiederbach stream follow the Gorperi bisse in the direction of Eggerberg. Shortly before Eggerberg near Eggen, you finally descend to the stream, cross it and climb back up to Ausserberg on the other side. Highly recommended 🤗
