The Donoperteich (also Donoper pond) is located in a much visited nature reserve on the border of Detmold hamlets Hiddesen and Pivitsheide V. H. in the Teutoburg Forest. The pond and the surrounding area was placed under protection on 4 April 1950 together with the Hiddeser Bent and is considered by its scenic diversity and beauty to the most popular destinations in Lippe. It was built around 1625 at the behest of Simon VII for fish farming and named after the chamberlain of Donop.
