West of Krk, below the town of Salatići, are the remains of the popularly appointed “kaštel Salatići”. Although it is called a fortress (kaštel), it is probably an estate built by an unknown noble family in the 15th century. The ivy-covered walls stand as witnesses to the past times when the noble family spent their holidays here.
