If you have walked the beautiful stretch of the way on the crest of the Eitorfer Siegdeich from the old outdoor pool (today a beer garden) to here, you reach the left side of the Sieg at the confluence of the Auelsgraben and the Sieg down into the meadows of the Siegaue and look across to the idyllic green of the nature reserve.
Asphalted, you walk through the beautiful victory arch on the left-hand side. Small picnic bays with a pebble beach are lined up along the way. Idyllic places to take a break and often used for a beach party in midsummer. But there you go: take the garbage you produce with you and don't leave it to the next flood to clear it up or even punish unsuspecting dogs or barefoot children who want to cool off with piles of broken glass!
In the Sieg Arch itself, swimming on the outside of the arch is dangerous because of the unexpectedly strong current and the confluence with clear eddy formations! Nomen est omen: when I was young, the corner was popularly known as "Das dsTeufelsloch" ("The Devil's Hole"), because swimmers in this section could only be salvaged dead by the DLRG. The water depth is there wg. always be described as deep on the flow side, even at low tide. impossible to stand. It's best not to go more than knee-deep into flowing water the size of the Sieg anyway.
