The Clifton Suspension bridge was built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw and based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It was opened in 1864.
There are loads of great places to view the bridge and this is one of them. From the southern bank of the Avon as it curves into Bristol you can look up the gorge to the bridge. Turn the other way and you can see the big, red and square Tabaco Factory.
