Scharnebeck’s Mill and Mill Pond

The water mill is located on the banks of the Örtze, but it was not the Heide river, but the small Hasselbach that powered the mill's grinding mechanism. It flows into the large mill pond, the mill's energy storage facility.According to the oldest document, Scharnebeck's mill belonged to the Hasselhorst estate, which was first mentioned in 1646. The history of most of the other buildings on the mill farm also goes back to this time. Around 1900, a Francis turbine was installed and the interior of the mill was extensively modernized.The mill was stopped in the 1970s. The mill's technical equipment has been preserved to this day.
