Jebenhausen citizens have had the legal right to fetch sour water from this spring since 1762. The water is considered medicinal water. The spring has a low discharge and is contained in taps. So the people of Jebenhausen can fill it in bottles. The water tastes a bit mineral and has a slight tingling sensation. The source is accessible somewhat hidden. There is also a parking lot right next to an old moorland.

The personal physician of Duke Friedrich I of Württemberg was already full of praise in 1596. He wrote about the Sauerbrunnen: "The best Sauerbrunn is in Jebenhausen, which I always drunk for several weeks, from August 23rd to October 21st."

The right to sour water was guaranteed to the residents of Jebenhausen in the 1762 warehouse register. Since then, everyone in Jebenhausen has been allowed to take water for household needs from the well. And this can only happen ".. at the time of day ..". That is the legal right.

The water was exported as early as the 17th century. Whole shiploads are said to have been transported on the Danube to Vienna.

Overall, a great place considering the history. Here you can fill your drinking bottles with history.

Opening times: "during the day". Unfortunately I didn't write it down.

Since you can no longer buy it regularly, you have to fill it yourself.
