Nine switchbacks and a good 1,000 meters of altitude gain take you up from Reckingen here. At the beginning, you'll pedal your way warm in the shady forest, and above the tree line, you'll then, so to speak, "drive over" it.
The view is fantastic the whole time and makes all the effort worthwhile, especially in the higher reaches of the Bächital with the two Galmihörner, which tower far in the back above the valley floor.
