Our mill was first mentioned in writing in 1408 as FREDERICUS mill. Over the next few centuries, it experienced repeated changes of ownership and happy as well as sad events, culminating in the house fire in 1825, to which the upper floor fell victim. The following should be mentioned as famous residents: Alexander von Ledebur - royal Prussian colonel; Bernhard Henrich Schenk - Mayor of Meschede and Professor Pitt Moog; Artist and participant of the documenta. The mill has been owned by the Kappe and Bürger family since 2017 and houses the last surviving mill wheel on the Aa.LUST FOR HISTORY - Just talk to us; we would be happy to tell you a few anecdotes.
THE ARTIST IN THE MILL `PROF. PITT MOOG´
The mill certainly wrote a special chapter in its existence in the years 1971 to 2017. Prof. Pitt Moog used the mill as a creative place and studio. Anyone who knew him will certainly agree with us: he was a special person and an absolute 'original'. His works are rightly endowed and respected throughout Europe. Over 160 individual exhibitions and participation in the documenta in Kassel line his life. We are still able to present a few of his works to you in the mill today. There is also a permanent exhibition in the Briloner Stadtmuseum Haus Hövener that is absolutely worth seeing - WORTH A VISIT!
THE MILL AT THE END OF 2017
