The memorial cross commemorates the Degenduell conducted on 19.09.1632 between the Swedish Lieutenant van Lueg and the knight Joannes Schertlin von Burtenbach, in which the Swede was killed. The occasion was the murder of the miller of the Münsterhauser Schlossmühle and his daughter by the Swedes the previous night.
