Built in the 15th century on the northern outskirts of Pisogne, this church is today one of the most evocative examples of sacred painting of the 16th century. Between the years 1532 and 1534 Girolamo Romani known as Romanino frescoed, according to the theme of the Passion of Jesus, the walls, the holy arch and the counter-façade of this church with a style that had nothing to do with the academicism of the time . His transgressive, often grotesque, figures are inspired by the simple local people. The result is a grandiose work that finds its maximum expression in the fresco of the Crucifixion.
