The Bachenweiher in the Anhauser Valley near Burgwalden is not only a scenic gem, but also a valuable ecosystem in the Augsburg - Western Forests Nature Park. The pond is characterized by its natural environment and provides a habitat for numerous animals and plants, including dragonflies, frogs, and various aquatic plants. The Anhauser Valley, in which the Bachenweiher is located, has a special geological structure. The valley was formed by the Anhauser Ache and is today a typical example of a river valley with steep slopes and a wetland. Ponds and lakes such as the Bachenweiher play an important role in this landscape by regulating the water and acting as small water reservoirs. The Bachenweiher is ideal for a quiet excursion, as the paths around the valley are well signposted and enable various circular hikes. The "Ponds, Forests, Paths" route is a well-known tour that takes visitors through dense deciduous forests, along the Anhauser Ache and past other ponds. The Bachenweiher offers interesting motifs for nature photographers and bird watchers, especially during the early morning hours or in autumn, when the foliage bathes the surroundings in warm colours.
