Occupying a gorgeous little spot in Upper Weardale, Cowshill is a lovely hamlet, typical of the Durham Dales. The surroundings have a quiet beauty, at once wild and yet homely. The Cowshill Hotel serves good pub food at weekends, though it is worth booking ahead to avoid disappointment.
