The large Gosszschocher weir in the riverbed of the White Elster is located northwest of the Copudener See opencast mining lake. The bank area of the facility is reinforced with concrete walls. In the western part of the facility there is a large fish ladder. In the immediate vicinity of the facility there are two information boards about the region's hydraulic structures and the mining history in the southern Leipzig area. The weir represents the transition from the meandering river course along the western bank of the Copudener See to the canalized river course towards the Leipzig city area. The structure is part of the water management system, which is necessary due to the brown coal mining in the region.
