This cave is known as Hospital dels Carlins because the Carlist general Cercós was brought here wounded. But who was Cercós? To discover the fabric of history we must go back to the middle of the nineteenth century, in the last years of the reign of Ferdinand VII there had been struggles between absolutists and liberals, the first were in favor of the succession of the brother of King Charles Maria Isidre of Bourbon, an ideal person to lead a strong, authoritarian and effective government against the Liberals, who, on the other hand, opposed the succession and supported the daughter of King Elizabeth II, a minor, the whose regency was held by his mother Maria Cristina de Borbón.

This balma is known as Hospital dels Carlins because the Carlist general Cercós was brought here wounded.

It is not well known whether he went to Prades or Aleixar, but it seems that, due to a betrayal, Isidre Pàmies was seriously wounded on October 20, 1873; he was taken on a mule to the Joan Pau de la Mussara farmhouse, but for greater security he was hidden in a cliff on the cliff, called the Hospital dels Carlins, where he died and was buried in the Mussara grave. He was 29 years old and the rank of colonel and, posthumously, the pretender Carles called him general.
