The fountain on Nussloch's market square apparently has the nickname "Mondspritzerbrunnen". Nussloch's fire brigade is said to have mistaken the moon for a fire in earlier times. The sculpture is supposed to symbolize this extinguishing action.

Perhaps it is because the physiognomy of the female figure - judged by secondary gender characteristics - is so masculine. The fountain was designed around the turn of the millennium by the Aachen art professor Lutz Brockhaus.
