I concur with others here that this is NOT a legal border crossing for travellers including cyclists. It is an unmanned crossing so if you use it, you won't get a stamp in your passport and might have a hard time explaining to the border police why this stamp is missing when you leave Montenegro through another border crossing. In addition, after climbing the (sometimes very) steep road from either side to reach the border, you run the risk of being stopped by a police officer passing by and having to make the 100+ km detour to one of the legal crossings in the North (Hum - Šćepan Polje) or South (Vraćenovići - Deleuša).

I would like to add to my colleagues above that this border is not legal to cross unless you have before made arrangements with the border police of Montenegro - I talked to both the Police im Plužine and the border police in Šćepan Polje and that's what they told me.
But hey "Wo kein Richter da kein Henker" I guess; just beware to check the local laws when crossing non-Schengen borders.

The border is just a barrier on a small road. The road is quite steep and there are no opportunities to stop anywhere. There is also hardly any traffic. So bring enough electricity and food

You can cross into Montenegro by this route, even if this border is not official. In any case, I wasn't bothered.
Be careful on the descent towards Pluzine, there is a moment where a waterfall overflows onto the road, and this precise location is an ice rink!

I was there today (9/9/2024) and it is definitely not legal to cross the border there. Shortly afterwards, I met patrol officers who very strongly advised me to use other crossings! So, if you want to enter legally and with a stamp, you cannot use these routes.

Great border crossing with no control

We recently wanted to cross this very border from Pluzine into Bosnia by bike and were coldly informed that we had to turn around. (2 men with a VW bus aka border guards) Negotiating didn't help either... this crossing is only for locals. We were forced to take a 3 hour detour down a very adventurous gravel road (lots of counter ramps) to Gacko. Absolutely not recommended.

Hello, I cycled from Gacko to Montenegro on this road early in the morning of September 7th. I only encountered two local cars. During the first breakfast break at a small campsite at the beginning of the reservoir, I was also told that crossing here was illegal. Apparently even for locals. It's probably a coincidence whether you encounter police officers here or not. It must also be said, however, that there are no signs indicating this, so I only found out about it later. The road itself is asphalted throughout and of course a very beautiful route, just without cars.

Beware of a €250 fine per person if checked by the police (they were hidden 100m after the border on the Bosnian side), then they are required to return to Montenegro and enter through a legal border post (a major detour).
Otherwise, there is a route that bypasses the road border crossing...

Hi, for those who know, can you confirm if it is possible or not to go to Montenegro through this crossing point?
                      Thank you!

                        Hello
What about this 2024 transition? Would love to ride through it on a motorcycle.
