The sundial in the lower area of the Höpens is one of the largest sundials in Germany. It is 16.5 m high and has a diameter of 30.5 m. The tip of its "clock hand" points north directly towards the Polar Star.
The clock face is represented by the boulders. The clock hand is represented by the slanted metal rod. This runs parallel to the earth's axis (north-south pole) according to our latitude (53.07 degrees).
