The Alcalá de Ebro factory received the salt extracted from the Remolinos mines through an aerial system of wagons guided by a cable that ended at the house next to the roundabout at the entrance to the town. The cable was supported by pilasters and the most famous is the one that is next to the town and in front of the dike. After the business ceased in 1964, the remnants of this system have been disappearing. This pilaster, both a memory of the area and a residue of industrial activity, has been occupied for years by several stork nests.
