The patronage of St. Leonard has been known since 1524. But St. Anne was the second patron saint, as the Schmidt register of 1738 even mentions a church dedicated to St. Anne.
St. Anne was also the patron saint of the castle chapel, which was demolished in 1843. Many of the castle's lords from the Barth family (the coat of arms features a bearded face) are buried in the church.
Today's branch church of St. Leonard and Anne of the Vierkirchen parish is a Gothic building that was rebuilt or expanded during the Baroque period, and above all, refurbished.
