Rumpenheim - Offenbach am Main Ferry 🚴‍♂️

The Rumpenheim Ferry is a cable-guided car ferry between Offenbach-Rumpenheim on the southern side of the Main River and a feeder road to Bundesstraße 8 north of the Main. Downstream, the next Main crossing is the Carl-Ulrich Bridge, and upstream is the Mühlheim Ferry. The next Main ferry downstream is the Höchst Ferry. A total of eleven regularly scheduled Main ferries still operate. In 1960, the construction of three additional Main bridges upstream of the existing Carl-Ulrich Bridge was planned, and in 1960, the city of Offenbach am Main therefore decided to decommission the ferry. However, the bridges were never built, and the ferry still exists today. The ferry service in Rumpenheim has been documented since the beginning of the 17th century. The cable ferry has two guide cables to prevent it from drifting. It is powered by two diesel engines with 26 and 42 hp. The current vessel dates back to 1946; it has been in service in Rumpenheim since 1972, is significantly larger than its predecessor, and was previously stationed on the Moselle. The ferry operates daily from at least 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and also later on weekdays and during the summer months. 🚴‍♂️

The most beautiful way to cross the Main in Offenbach. Especially for children.
